Does this shape appear in other series?   Yes, more or less -  500 Series 503 and Later Series 11. It is also like the immediately preceding number in the Early Series, 322.  Unlike those others, however, 323 has a twig-handle (at least in both the two examples yet recorded).

In Remued shape-numbering it is most unusual for a twig-handle version to have a separate number of its own as appears to be the case here. Normally the same number applies whether a piece has a twig-handle or not, although similar anomalies are seen with Early Series 220 and Early Series 221
