The same body shape minus handle, however, appears with applied animal decoration as Early Series 36 z.

Base incised  189  Remued  Handmade  1934  (The shape number might originally have been 189 M, the 'M'  having been obliterated by grinding.)

This is the highest number yet recorded that shows a date. It demonstrates that the Early Series numbering reached at least as high as 189 during its first year, 1934.
